Both by Ring #17 - Joining the forces to have greater impact... EDHEC x Ring = Generations
Featured with Emmanuel Métais, dean of EDHEC Business School
Dear community,
The more we think about impact, the more it seems that it is an ecosystem issue. Indeed, we can only solve the most urgent social and environmental issues if we have a massive mobilization of all the stakeholders.
Starting with education for example. How can schools and academic institutions help accelerate not only the students awareness but also the acquisition of the skills needed to solve the challenges we are facing? They can really make a big change for the future generations and also increase their role and influence in the society. This is the mission Emmanuel Métais, dean of EDHEC Business School, is trying to achieve. Let’s hear about what he has to say about it.
Other sectors could join this transformation. Why not having a finance industry also directed towards impact objectives? As an investors, we do feel concern. And other players, for instance savings products providers, can play their role. Do you know Goodvest? Find more about this unique savings solution committed to the environment in this newsletter.
This is what BOTH is about: showing how people, companies, investors and institutions can act and play their part in this transition.
The interview
‘The entrepreneurial spirit is critical to positively transforming the world.’
Emmanuel Métais, dean of EDHEC Business School
How can a school like EDHEC really impact society and business to solve the great environmental and social challenges?
Higher education must provide learning that enlightens and emboldens students to take on challenges that will move our society forward. At EDHEC, we are constantly looking for new degree options for students who want to have an impact, and we are more focused than ever on supporting students who want to tackle climate change and social justice. EDHEC teaches CSR and sustainability in all degree tracks and offers in-depth courses in data analytics, climate science, green finance, environmental transformation, corporate ethics, and public policy and law. In recent years, we have entered partnerships with Sciences Po Lille, Mines Paris Tech, and the Ecole Supérieure de Journalisme to provide students with the courses they need to construct lives of purpose and impact. EDHEC Entrepreneurs, which manages our three startup incubators, created a sustainability guide called Responsible by Design that provides startups with a pathway to address a societal challenge from Day 1. As a school, I believe we are doing a lot to tackle these challenges, and I can say, without a doubt, that our students are dedicated to tackling them, too.

New comer in the Ring community: more about Goodvest
Ring Mission, Ring Capital's VC fund, is delighted to announce its participation in the 10m€ fundraising in Goodvest, the first savings solution committed to the environment. Goodvest has one ambition: to offer savers the first savings product aligned with the Paris Agreement (life insurance, PER...) where each portfolio is designed to have a climate trajectory below 2°C. It is directly aligned with Ring Capital's mission: support entrepreneurs who find solutions to tackle social and environmental issues through the emergence of new financial products.
